The Newt
The Newt in Somerset is a country estate with splendid gardens, woodland and farmland. The core is Georgian, with limestone buildings the colour of burnt orange, the seat of the Hobhouse family for more than two centuries.
Influenced by thousands of years of horticultural history, the gardens at The Newt are breathtaking and unique. As the name suggests, you may encounter Great Crested newts bathing in the ponds as you stroll through acres of formal gardens.
The gardens, shops and cafes are open throughout the year. Visit and become a member, paying once to visit as many times as you like over the next 12 months. Fresh foods and pantry items produced on the estate, or by friends and neighbours, are available from the Farm Shop and online.
